The Types of Plumbing Systems found in your Home

August 3, 2023 admin Comments Off

Your home’s plumbing system is a complex network involving physics and of course, the water supply pipes, drainpipes, vent pipes, and many more. As someone who is not familiar with these matters of a house, it really pays to be knowledgeable on how does it work and where you can found it so that you’ll know, at the very least, what you will do in case there will be a problem.

On our previous blogs, we have already indicated the importance of plumbing systems, now, we will go over each of the different types of plumbing systems that are commonly found inside a regular house.

Water Supply System

Your water supply system is the one that is in charge of carrying out the water en route to your faucets, showers, toilets and/or bathtubs. The water supply system is also responsible for the ample stock of water for your appliances like water heater, dishwasher, and washing machine. This one is usually composed of a well-engineered system of water pipes, fittings, service valves, and faucets.

Drain-Waste-Vent System

This one may be the most not-pleasing for everyone but it is actually the most important plumbing system present in your home. Just like a human body, any waste must be thrown or releases properly in order to have a smooth flow systematic process. The DWV system is the one that carries out the waste water and sewage from your sinks, bathtubs, showers, and toilets to the septic tank or public sewers. Meanwhile, the vent system is connected to the drain waste-piping and its main job is to ventilate the sewage gases to prevent it from building up inside the house making that very awful smell. The pipes of the DWV system are usually hidden in the walls, beneath the floors or in the attic. The most frequent problem this system experiences is clogged drain, hence, a professional plumber is needed to fix this out when it happens.

Kitchen Plumbing System

This plumbing system is commonly found even on rural houses. This is just basically composed of hot and cold water supply, lines to faucets, a waste line for the sink, and for some kitchens who has a gas range, a gas supply pipe may also be included.

Bathroom Plumbing System

One of the most important plumbing system in your house is the one that involves the bathroom. The bathroom plumbing system, just like the kitchen plumbing system, is also connected to the DWV and the water plumbing systems. Without the water supply and the drain-waste-vent function of the DWV system, your bathroom plumbing system may not function properly.
